Anupam Mittal was one of the seven judges on Shark Tank India, Season 1 and will also grace us with his presence in the upcoming Season 2. He is the Founder and CEO of People Group, which includes the matrimonial brand – Shaadi.com, the real estate platform Makaan.com and Mauj Mobile along with a media company named Mobango.
An Entrepreneur, an angel investor and a Businessman, Anupam Mittal is a dreamer and doer when it comes to the coming decades being flourishing grounds for startups and entrepreneurship.

Having gained considerable media attention on Shark Tank India Season 1, he now frequently appears in media interviews and meetings with well-known Indian figures. He is the only one out of all the sharks who has openly expressed that he will support young Indian entrepreneurs and has also highlighted that the decade from 2020 to 2030 will be one for startups and businesses.
Anupam Mittal is also often regarded as a “Techpreneur”, who started an internet business before the internet craze was not so widespread. The People Group has also produced the Bollywood films, 99 and Flavors.
Before gaining insight into his life, it is important to know that Anupam Mittal is regarded as one of the fair sharks on the show, and this is what brought him into the limelight with the media and fans. He is a resident of Mumbai and belongs to a business family. He finished his graduation in India, where he also assisted his father in his business.
After that, he went to the United States to complete his higher education, where he attended Boston College to study Operations and Strategic Management. He worked as a Product Manager with a software company, MicroStrategy, in Washington DC for 4 years, after which he moved back to India to start his own Internet-based company.

Shaadi.com, which was previously named Sagai.com, serves globally with its primary market being India. It is a trusted matrimony and matchmaking platform that now has garnered a base of over 35 million verified users.
As stated earlier, Mittal is also an angel investor in addition to being an entrepreneur. However, when he first began investing in 2007, he was unaware of the phrase “angel investor.” Currently, he majorly and primarily invests in start-up businesses.
More than 200 new businesses have received his investment, among which are these names- Avenues, Sapience Analytics, Big Basket, Cafe Zoe, Ketto, Druva, Pretty Secrets, TaxSpanner, Peel Works, FarEye, Prop Tiger, etc.
Anupam Mittal has not only invested in small ventures, which now have a big name, but he also got the opportunity to invest in OLA Cabs in 2011, an offer which he rejected at first. Yet with fate being the biggest angel investor, on one of his visits to Delhi, he wasn’t able to get a cab, during which the idea struck him to make the investment in OLA Cabs. He first invested INR 1.5 Million and later invested an undisclosed amount, and now he holds 2% equity in the company.
Apart from being a successful businessman, Anupam Mittal also has a flare for public speaking and has spoken at many events about Entrepreneurship, raising capital and start-up culture in India.

He was awarded the “Outstanding Serial Entrepreneur and Angel Investor” by The Indus Entrepreneurs in 2020 and the “Karmaveer Puraskaar” award from iCONGO in 2015.
