Who is Aman Gupta? Know Everything about Co-Founder of Boat.

Aman Gupta is the co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of boAt company. He appeared as a shark aka judge on the television business reality show Shark Tank India, Season 1 and is also going to be seen as an investor in Season 2 of the show.

He was born and brought up in Delhi. He pursued his primary education at Delhi Public School and his graduation with B.com (Honors) from Delhi University. He did his CA from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and then went on to pursue his MBA from the Indian School of Business and Finance.

Aman Gupta has been attached to many prestigious companies and brands, in his professional journey before he became an Entrepreneur. He worked as an Assistant Director at Citibank. His association with KPMG was that of an Executive Consultant.

The entrepreneur has also served as a Chair of the D2C Board of the Internet and Mobile Association of India. He is the founding partner of Imagine Marketing India. Prior to co-founding boAt, Aman Gupta co-founded Telemedia Pvt Ltd. and served as the CEO from 2005-2010.

While working as a sales manager at Harman International, he oversaw a number of electronic brands such as JBL, AKG and Harman Kardon.

He co-founded boAt in 2016 with Sameer Mehta. He began by marketing the brand in Delhi’s social hubs and cafes, while Sameer Mehta handled the marketing and other operations in Mumbai. 

boAt lifestyle sells earphones, headphones, speakers, travel chargers and cables. 

Aman Gupta is also the largest investor in a number of businesses, including WickedGud, Skippi Ice Pops, 10 Club, FREECULTR, Bummer, The Reenal Project and Anveshan. He has joined the list of investors in numerous businesses. Aman Gupta’s net worth was reported to be around INR 10,500 crores by GQ India.

The shark enjoys a profit share as well as a fixed salary as the co-founder and CMO of boAt. Aman Gupta holds a 28.1% stake in boAt while another co-founder Sameer Mehta also holds 28.1%, Warburg Pincus holds a 36.2% stake, Fireside Ventures holds 3.7% and Qualcomm Ventures hold the remaining 2.6% of the company.

boAt was valued at INR 2200 Crore, when it raised Rs 50 crore from Qualcomm Ventures in April 2021. boAt is well placed in the Indian fitness market and its target audience is Generation Z and millennials and all fitness fans. He was quoted saying “We talk to customers in a language they understand. Millennials are very impatient and if we don’t evolve with them, then we are dead.” 

boAt products are available at a low cost in comparison to the other electronic brands in the market. It offers similar products to Apple, but at an affordable price, due to which its audience has increased in the past few years.

According to reports, the company has grown its operating revenue in FY21 which will support the IPO and help the brand receive a listing. Aman Gupta is a self-made Entrepreneur, who has put a substantial sum of money against good equities in start-ups.

In 2020 he won the “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award and was also on the list of “40 under 40 Achievers” by Businessworld. In the coming year, his brand became the “World’s Top 5 Wearable Brand” and Aman Gupta was again listed in the “40 under 40” list of Economic Times. 

Aman Gupta is a shark who is super trendy and seems to be loved by all, on the show Shark Tank India. He is known for his great marketing strategies which have made his brand stand out in the electronics market.

He has carved out a space for his brand in a very cut-throat industry. He has full faith in new ideas and has for this reason alone, invested in many brands.
